At Shark Coast FC, we believe that players in New Smyrna Beach and throughout Volusia County should have the opportunity to find that answer without feeling like they have to leave their community to find the next level.
That idea is at the heart of Road2Pro.
Road2Pro isn’t a promise that every player will become a professional. It’s our commitment to creating a connected soccer pathway that gives players opportunities to learn, develop, compete, and pursue the game as far as their talent, work ethic, and ambition can take them.
From a child’s first touches to competitive youth soccer, college recruiting, senior teams, and the pre-professional game, we’re building that pathway right here on the coast.
It Starts with the First Touch
Every pathway must start somewhere.
For Shark Coast FC, development begins long before players start thinking about college soccer or professional opportunities.
Our youngest programs introduce players to the game and help build the technical foundation, confidence, and love of soccer they’ll need if they choose to continue.
From there, players can progress into the Futures program, designed as a developmental bridge toward competitive soccer. The club’s original pathway plans specifically identified Futures as preparation for the competitive level, giving young players additional training and an introduction to a more challenging environment.
At this age, Road2Pro isn’t about professional soccer.
It’s about creating the foundation that makes everything else possible.
The Competitive Youth Pathway
As players grow, so does the level of competition.
Shark Coast FC’s competitive youth structure gives players opportunities to move into increasingly challenging environments as their ability and commitment develop.
That includes local and regional competition for younger teams and higher-level opportunities through programs such as the Florida Regional League and National 1 as players advance.
This progression is important.
We don’t believe development should simply mean finding the strongest league available as quickly as possible. Players need an environment appropriate for where they are today while also being able to see where they can go tomorrow.
That means more demanding training, stronger competition, tournaments, position-specific development, and opportunities to train and play beyond a player’s primary team when appropriate.
That philosophy has been part of the club’s development model from the beginning. Guest playing and dual rostering have been encouraged when approved by the club’s directors and when they don’t interfere with a player’s primary team responsibilities. The idea behind it was summarized simply: More Soccer > Less Soccer.
More Than Team Training
Road2Pro also means recognizing that development doesn’t happen during two practices and one game each week.
The club has historically incorporated additional development opportunities including small-sided play, futsal, technical stations, goalkeeper training, supplemental small-group sessions, and individual high-performance training.
Today, that commitment continues as Shark Coast FC expands its coaching and development structure.
Players have access to coaches working at different stages of the pathway, including specialized goalkeeper development under Goalkeeper Director Nic Fischer, who also serves as goalkeeper coach for the Stetson University men’s and women’s soccer programs.
The goal is to create an environment where players who want more opportunities to develop can find them within their own club.
The Girls Pathway
Road2Pro belongs to our girls, too.
Shark Coast FC is continuing to build a stronger pathway for female players, beginning with younger teams competing in the Florida Girls League and progressing to our U18 Girls competing in N1 Premier 1.
The U18 team provides an important destination for younger players coming through the club.
A U10 or U12 player can look ahead and see an older Shark Coast team competing at a high level. For players approaching graduation, that pathway can continue toward college and senior women’s soccer.
That visibility matters.
Young players shouldn’t just be told that opportunities exist. We want them to be able to see the next step in front of them.
USL Academy: Connecting Youth and Senior Soccer
As players reach the upper end of youth soccer, the gap between youth and the senior game becomes increasingly important.
That’s where USL Academy becomes another major part of Road2Pro.
It creates a bridge between high-level youth soccer and the senior environment, giving developing players an opportunity to experience greater demands while remaining connected to the Shark Coast system.
Instead of youth soccer being the end of the pathway, it becomes another step along it.
For the players capable of continuing, there is somewhere else to go.
College Is Part of the Road
For many Shark Coast players, the next major goal isn’t immediately professional soccer.
It’s college soccer.
That makes recruiting, showcases, exposure, and helping players understand the college process important parts of Road2Pro.
Even before the Shark Coast FC name, the club’s pathway was already producing results. Current FC reported helping more than 100 players with collegiate recruitment while also playing a role in three players earning professional contracts in the USL Championship and USL League One.
Those numbers help demonstrate what the pathway is intended to accomplish.
Success isn’t measured only by professional contracts.
For a player, finding the right NCAA, NAIA, or junior college opportunity is also a successful outcome.
Every player’s destination is different.
Senior Soccer Without Leaving the Pathway
One of the biggest differences between a collection of youth teams and a true club pathway is what happens when youth soccer ends.
At Shark Coast FC, we want players to have somewhere to go.
The club’s development model has included senior competition through UPSL, and the pathway has continued expanding toward USL League Two and USL Academy. Earlier club planning specifically identified those USL opportunities as major steps in creating a more complete structure for local players.
That means a young Shark Coast player can look beyond their current age group and see senior players training and competing within the same overall club environment.
For the youngest Sharks, those players can become examples.
For an older youth player, they can become teammates.
And for a player with the ability and ambition to continue beyond that level, they can become another step toward the professional game.
What Does Road2Pro Really Mean?
The name is intentionally ambitious.
But Road2Pro doesn’t mean every player has the same destination.
One player may simply fall in love with soccer and play throughout childhood.
Another may become a strong high school player.
Another may reach N1.
Another may play in college.
Another may compete in USL League Two.
And, occasionally, a player may earn the opportunity to sign a professional contract.
All those journeys matter.
Our responsibility isn’t to guarantee the destination.
It’s to build the road.
That means providing quality coaching, appropriate competition, additional training, college exposure, senior-level opportunities, and connections between each stage of development.
A Home for Local Talent
The idea behind Shark Coast FC has always been bigger than building successful individual teams.
It’s about building something sustainable for soccer in our community.
Before becoming Shark Coast FC, SVSC had spent decades introducing New Smyrna Beach-area boys and girls to the game. Current FC expanded that pathway to include middle school, high school, college-age, and adult players. Together, those programs were already moving toward a model designed to give Volusia County talent opportunities to compete at higher levels.
Shark Coast FC brings that vision together.
We want a child beginning soccer in New Smyrna Beach to look across the fields and see what’s possible.

See the college-bound players.

And understand:
There’s a road from here to there.
How far a player travels on that road will ultimately depend on the player.
But they shouldn’t have to leave their community just to find where the road begins.
