More Than the Game: Shark Coast FC Gives Back at Read-Pattillo Elementary

Some days remind us why we do this.
Today was one of those days.

Shark Coast FC had the privilege of stepping off the field and into the classrooms at Read‑Pattillo Elementary, where the focus shifted from goals and tactics to stories, smiles, and meaningful connections.

This visit wasn’t just about soccer; it was about community.

Our players and staff spent time reading to students, answering questions, and simply being present. Watching young faces light up as stories came alive was a powerful reminder that inspiration doesn’t always come from highlights or trophies. Sometimes it comes from sitting on the floor, turning pages, and showing kids that people from their own community believe in them.

For many of these students, seeing local athletes take time to give back sends a clear message: success and kindness go hand in hand. Whether it was a shared laugh, a curious question, or a moment of encouragement, every interaction mattered.

At Shark Coast FC, Home for Local Talent means more than developing players; it means investing in the next generation, right here in Volusia County. We want kids to know that their dreams are valid, their voices matter, and their community supports them.

Today reinforced what we already believe:
Soccer is a platform.
Community is the purpose.
And giving back is part of who we are.

Thank you to the students, teachers, and staff at Read-Pattillo Elementary for welcoming us so warmly. We’ll carry this day with us long after the final whistle.

This was just the first of many community visits planned for 2026. We’re committed to connecting in more ways than one, on the field, in the classroom, and throughout our community. If you know of opportunities to collaborate, volunteer, or give back, we’d love to hear from you.
